At Sacred Space Ministries, Sabbath Sunday is observed on the last Sunday of each month as a time dedicated to rest, reflection, and spiritual renewal for both the leadership and the congregation. It aligns with the biblical principle of Sabbath, which emphasizes rest, worship, and reconnecting with God.

Purpose of Sabbath Sunday at Sacred Space:

  1. Rest for the Body and Soul – A day to pause from the usual activities of work and ministry to replenish physically, mentally, and emotionally.
  2. Spiritual Reflection – An opportunity to meditate on God’s Word, spend intentional time in prayer, and engage in personal or family worship.
  3. Family and Community Bonding – Encourages members to prioritize time with family, strengthen relationships, and create meaningful spiritual experiences at home.
  4. Deepening Personal Faith – Invites individuals to engage in practices such as silence, solitude, journaling, gratitude, and listening to God’s voice without distraction.
  5. Avoiding Religious Busyness – Helps prevent burnout by balancing active ministry with sacred rest, following Jesus’ example of withdrawing to be with the Father (Mark 6:31).

What Happens on Sabbath Sunday?

  • No In-Person Services – Instead of gathering at the church, members are encouraged to have household worship, engage in personal Bible study, or meet with small groups.
  • Guided Reflection & Devotion – A special devotional, scripture reading plan, or meditation guide is provided in advance to help members engage spiritually from home.
  • Prayer & Worship at Home – Families and individuals take time to pray, worship, and reflect on the teachings from the past month.
  • Acts of Restorative Rest – Members are encouraged to engage in restful activities such as walking, journaling, reading, or quiet time in nature.
  • Serving Others in Restorative Ways – While it’s a day of rest, members may also reach out to loved ones, perform small acts of kindness, or fellowship over meals.

Sacred Space’s Vision for Sabbath Sunday

Sacred Space Ministries believes that ministry is not just about doing but also about being—being in God’s presence, being at peace, and being renewed. Sabbath Sunday is a rhythm that allows the congregation to reset, refocus, and re-enter the work of ministry with fresh strength.
